Andrea has brought a stranger, John, into the kingdom. Her sister Rosa is engaged to King Don Julian from another kingdom. When she sees John, all thoughts of Don Julian fly right out of her head and she falls completely and blindly in love with John. Don Andres calls off the engagement to Don Julian. This, of course, embarrasses and infuriates him. He declares war on Don Andres' kingdom. Andrea is troubled - what has she done - she must correct this. When she locates Don Julian she almost gets him killed. She must take him to her mother - she will make him well.
Andres' Uncle Tio Ramiro promises Don Julian he will take him to the new world if he will call off the war. Don Julian gives up his throne, makes peace with Don Andres and prepares to enter the new world. Before he leaves he asks Andrea to go with him. Her parents give her permission and she leaves her kingdom forever. In the new world (California) she finds true love with her king.
Highly recommended. A delightful fictional story that will hold your attention from the first page to the last.
