Slim just wanted to rest, but the coyote needed to get to his wedding and needed someone else to deliver a letter to Fire Gulch City. To sweeten the deal, the coyote offered Slim his cowboy hat as a present. Accepting the hat and the letter, Slim promised to deliver the letter. On the way, he comes across several natural (and unnatural) disasters that are all resolved by the magic of his new hat. When a flood threatens the hat swallows all the water. When a tornado and thieves come across his hat, Slim and his hat take care of business. And so on.
The story and artwork are so well done that adults and children alike will be swallowed, like a tornado, and enthralled. The ending is a sweet and surprising resolution to a satisfying book. It's very well done.
Highly recommended for children of all ages and maturity.
