Amelia Devries is an acclaimed violinist who has a secret life on the country music circuit as a fiddler. She has a close relationship with her parents. Amelia struggles with choosing her own career path. She has been living in her father’s dream as a classic performer. Driving home from a concert on a rainy night, she takes a wrong turn in the woods of Pennsylvania, and her car gets a flat tire, she finds refuge and a friend in a small cabin. The Fiddler Home to Hickory Hollow Series by Beverly Lewis Bethany House April 2012 Michael Hostetler is a young man who should have at his age already been baptized into the Amish church and has been straddling the fence between the Amish and English world. Michael has been attending college to further his draftsman education. He can’t help but to want a "fancy" life, only his love for his family holds him back. This is story of how two people from completely different worlds transcend their cultural differences to find true love. My thoughts on this book: As far as Amish books, this one was different from all of Beverly Lewis books. The Fiddler is not a traditional Beverly Lewis style. Usually her books take up more than one book to come to a conclusion of the characters. You know what happens to Michael and Amelia at the end. Also this is her first book coming from a man’s perspective. I would have loved to see more of their characters developed over time in another book. Still a great books as all of Beverly Lewis’s books are. I look forward to more books in the “Home to Hickory Hollow series”.
