Amy Parker is back with another children's book (after April's Thank You, God, For Mommy), this time focusing on daddy.
Thank You, God, For Daddy
by Amy Parker

Each of the 10 two page spreads is fully illustrated by
Frank Endersby, a U.K. artist best known for his whimsical light artwork for children's books. Daddy and the child take the form of lions who interact with other various animals throughout the padded board book.
Parker's prayer for Daddy takes the form of four line stanzas. The poems are tight and the rhymes easy to get into the rythem of. The focus of what Daddy does for his son are suitably male: building things, working outside, fixing things, calming fears, protecting his cub. I read the book to my four year old son and was rewarded with generous hugs - clearly, children will get the point.
The book will promote a child's appreciation of their fathers and the father will read a message reinforcing solid Christian parenting skills. Parker's work is a clear win, win for Christian parents.
