It's been 100 years since the Scorpion Queen has found her soul mate, or any real mate at all. The curse of being the queen is that any lover she has will be killed - either by a prophecy or by a deadly scorpion tattoo that comes to life to defend her. So Scorpathia (yes, that is her actual name!) quenches her lusts by visiting men in their sleep. But one man wouldn't accept just a dream lover and searches out for her. When he finds her she must decide to consummate their lust or to reject him for fear it will kill him. The Scorpion Queen by Alexis Ke Red Sage Publishing April 2011 When this book, really a novella, was offered to me for review I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I wasn't familiar with the publisher and didn't realize that they live on the pornographic fringe of the romance genre. If I had I would have declined this book in a heart beat - as I recommend you should. Not just for the wanton lust scenes - not love, mind you - but also for the sheer stupidity of the narrative. Queen Scorpathia is the Scorpion Queen who lives in the Scorpathian mountains and has a scorpion tattoo that comes to life and kills her lovers just as she is about to... well you get the point. The book is a waste of time. Something you would expect on Skinimax late at night - only more pornographic. There wasn't even as much of a story as all that I descriobed above. The "hero" Gabriel starts out the book looking for Scorpathia, which is supposed to be nigh impossible, finds her in battle in the first couple chapters. Then they have sex. Then she rejects him. Then there is another battle. Then they have sex. Then she rejects them. Then there is another battle... and so on until they finally complete their intercourse and the prophecy is fulfilled. Blah. This book is only for readers looking for long form letters to the editor of Penthouse magazine. There is nothing literary here at all. If that's your thing go to it. If you are looking for a fantasy book with battles, bad guys and real love, as I was, then look elsewhere. This book is pure trash.
