An interesting - slightly mysterious - heart awakening novel. You will thoroughly enjoy Ms. Parr's sense of humour and intrigue.
Ruth Livingstone is the protected daughter of Reverend Livingstone. All is well with her world until one day her father places a young child in her arms and sends her under an assumed name to strangers in a small village in New Jersey. Her father is accused of murdering a young prostitute and he is determined to protect Ruth and the young toddler. What exactly has her father gotten himself into?
When Reverend Livingstone dies of an unexpected heart attack, Emily realizes she can never go home again and assume her rightful name, she finds solace in attending a garden along the banks of the Toms River where she meets Jake Spencer. A newspaper reporter, who is determined to learn if she is in fact Ruth Livingston. Ruth know she must carefully maintain her identity as Widow Malloy and protect Lily the child her father entrusted her with.
Highly recommend you read this very special book. Is Ruth able to hide her true identity, will she find love with Jake or will she be exposed by another unscrupulous reporter?
Hearts Awakening will make an excellent addition to your personal library. Ms. Parr is an excellent writer of Historial Fiction.
