Leadership and Emotional Sabotage is an outstanding reminder of how we sabotage ourselves, and of what to watch for when other people try to sabotage us.
Leadership and Emotional Sabotage
Resisting the Anxiety That Will Wreck Your Family, Destroy Your Church, and Ruin the World

Rigney's point is that for every real act of leadership, there's an equal act of sabotage, and a lot of leaders today have been routed by the agitated and the anxious. It shows up everywhere, from HR cubicles and elder meetings to Thanksgiving dinner. He wants to recover the old nerve that lets leaders make tough calls and hold steady when the sabotage comes, because it will.
Those people are everywhere. This isn't a church problem. It's a sin problem. We set ourselves up the wrong way and undermine ourselves, and other people work to undermine us too, even if they wouldn't call it that and don't realize they're doing it.
This is a very useful book. I found it really helpful, I've gone back to it more than once, and I recommend it.
