Julia wants to have a tea party. She just doesn't want to invite her brother, his friends, animals, or build rocket ships, or make a mess. But does she want to have a tea party by herself? How to Behave at a Tea Party written by Madelyn Rosenberg illustrated by Heather Ross Katherine Tegen Books September 2014 In the end this is a story that embraces the chaos of being a kid. Imagination, wildness, messiness, and most importantly, fun. A silly story about a girl who tried to hold on to control so tightly that all the fun was squished out and who learns to let go and enjoy life. The writing and the art are sparse and like many children's books it seems like there is less story than required pages. But the message is a good one that (especially bossy) children should hear more often. Heck, parents should hear it as well.
