Raylene has been called upon by longtime acquaintance, Horace, to retrieve some very rare and magical bones from a schizophrenic former NASA employee. Horace has a buyer lined up for them and that means a large commission for Raylene. Little does she know that Elizabeth Creed is planning to bring down her wrath upon those who have caused pain and heartache in her life.
Meanwhile, Ian Scott (Raylene’s Vampire housemate) has been called back to California to his former house because of the recent death of his father. If he goes back, he is sure to be killed in a battle for power within the ranks of the Vampire hierarchy. Raylene needs to find out what happened to Ian’s father and somehow convince his brother Max that Ian is no threat to his claim to power, all while ensuring that nobody knows Ian’s whereabouts or that he is blind.
As she embarks on this journey, her friend Adrian- a former Navy SEAL and current Drag Queen- has decided to join her in the hopes of finding out what has happened to his sister who was turned into a vampire and then suddenly vanished. During their journey, Ray and Adrian find out quite a lot about Ian’s house, The Atlanta house-where Ian’s father was killed- and the inner workings of the world of Vampire politics.
This was a very well written and entertaining book. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and was impressed by the author’s descriptions of each character. This being the second in a series, I may have to go back and read the first one as well.
