Flight Risk by Suzanne D. Williams is a very good romance story filled with lots of nail biting suspense. Giovanni Cavatelli could not refuse his uncle Vinnie when he asked him to take a couple up for a hot air balloon ride. Only the female half of the couple arrived for the balloon ride and Giovanni immediately disliked her but he decided that he could put up with her for an hour. Because of a storm, the balloon crashed into a densely forested mountain and the one hour trip turned into three days. During the three day ordeal, Giovanni and the beautiful woman with the masculine name of Sergeant realized that they did not really dislike each other as they had on their first meeting. A few hours after crashing they found a shack which contained eight boxes of guns that belonged to an anti-government militant group. When the group returned to the shack and found Giovanni and Sergeant, then the really scary stuff began to happen and continued for most of the book. I don't want to spoil the ending so you will have to read the book to find out what happens to Gio and Serge and the rest of the characters.
The author did an excellent job with all elements of the story. The plot was riveting and kept me guessing from page to page and had me almost shaking with fear and very concerned for the safety of Giovanni and Sergeant. When I read a good book, I definitely get involved and it becomes very real to me. All the characters were so well developed that they just seemed to come to life and the action scenes were so real that I felt as if I were right in the middle of the action and needing to hide or try to escape. The dialogue was right on target and sometimes provided me with a few good laughs. I like the way that the author had Giovanni, a Christian, live his life to please God. He was tempted by Sergeant but never gave in to the temptation. God's love and protection was evident throughout the entire book.
I highly recommend this book to all who like a great Christian romance with a lot of suspense thrown in the mix for more enjoyment.
