Cydney Sanders thought she knew God's plan for her life. She'll marry, have children and will snap her body back into shape - everything will be perfect. Wrong ! She is celebrating her 40th birthday, unmarried and the maid of honor at her littler sister's wedding. Her dreams are gone - where is God - why has he forsaken her? Cydney's best friend Dana appears to have the perfect marriage until she discovers her husband is having an affair - her world goes into a tailspin. Then there is Phyllis who is out of hope and out of prayers after asking God for six long years to help her husband find faith. On a weekend retreat, she runs into an old friend who is a Christian. He is the type of man she longs for? Will she let her desires and insecurities mess with her marriage?
Stephanie, Cyd's little sister, is getting married. She is driving Cyd crazy with phone calls at all hours of the day and night. Weddings - no big deal - just let everything take its course. The day will go on without a hitch - Stephanie worries too much. She is even obsessing about the flower girl's shoes - who cares - no one will see them anyway with the long dress? Cyd's mother has sort of washed her hands of the whole situation - Stephanie is just too hard to handle.
The big day arrives - everything is beautiful. It's Cyd's birthday, but everyone is too wrapped up in the bride and no one wishes her a happy birthday. She is feeling sorry for herself - 40 and still single. God has really done a number on her. Cyd has an even bigger problem - her life is suddenly complicated by the best man. He is the opposite of what she wants in a husband but he keeps defying her expectations.
We have three friends - two husbands and a Romeo. All are shaken to the core as the author peels away layers of lies and self-deception to reveal the rotten core of infidelity and tragic consequences. The novel is also of hope and healing as the characters discover the freedom of being faithful.
One must read the book to learn if Phyllis is tempted to do something she will regret. Does her husband Hayes finds the faith he had as a child - a time before his mother disgraced the family? Is her actions the cause of his lost faith? Will Dana and Scott overcome his betrayal and remain a family? Will Cyd have a wedding day If so, will she let Stephanie plan it for her?
Faithful is a novel that will change you - make you question your heart and attitude. It is a novel that is true to both the realities of life and the hope found through faith in Jesus Christ. Ms. Cash is an excellent author of Christian Fiction. This one is a keeper.
